Q2: Do I need to complete ADVISOR® before registering for SPECIALIST®?
Not always. If you hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher and have relevant professional experience, you may qualify directly for the SPECIALIST® level. Take our ESG career guidance quiz to know if you qualify for this.
Q3: Are training courses the same as the IASE certification exams?
No — they serve different but complementary purposes. IASE-endorsed training courses are valuable learning programs in their own right, designed to equip you with practical ESG skills. On completion, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion to recognise your achievement.
At the same time, these courses also act as ideal preparation for the corresponding international IASE board exam. Passing the exam earns you the official certification and the right to use the prestigious post-nominal title (e.g. ISB ADVISOR® or ISF SPECIALIST®).
Q4: Can my employer sponsor my training or certification?
Yes. Many employers cover costs for staff. You may use our Employer Sponsorship Toolkit to help you make the case to your employer. [Learn more and Download Toolkit →]
Q5. What is the format of the IASE exams and when are the next ones?
IASE board exams are conducted 100% online and consist of multiple-choice questions designed to test both knowledge and practical application of ESG concepts. Exams are typically offered four times a year on pre-set global dates.
Please note: the exams are set and administered directly by IASE Global, headquartered in the United Kingdom. IASE Africa and its partners provide training and guidance, but the exam standards, content, and certification decisions rest with IASE Global to ensure worldwide consistency.
