Ubuntu ESG Access Bursary - Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern the Ubuntu ESG Access Bursary, one of Africa’s leading opportunities for ESG tuition support, ESG financial assistance, and ESG scholarship funding for professionals pursuing IASE certification and ESG training.

1. Purpose of the Ubuntu ESG Access Bursary

The Ubuntu ESG Access Bursary exists to expand access to affordable ESG education and strengthen Africa’s sustainability talent pipeline. Administered by IASE Africa, the bursary provides partial financial support for:

  • ESG training at the ISB ADVISOR® or ISF ADVISOR® level

  • IASE Global Board Exam registration fees

  • First-time IASE Global membership

The bursary supports professionals pursuing ESG careers, sustainable finance, governance training, and responsible business pathways.

2. Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following:

Mandatory Criteria

  • Meet the entry requirements for ISB/ISF ADVISOR®

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Not receive employer or third-party sponsorship

  • Not be registered for any IASE Board Exam

  • Commit to completing ESG training and exam requirements

  • Reside in Africa or hold African nationality

Recommended Profiles

Priority is given to high-potential applicants including:

  • Unemployed professionals

  • Public sector, NGO, and community practitioners

  • Youth and early-career graduates

  • Individuals transitioning into ESG

3. Review Windows & Evaluation Process

The bursary uses a hybrid model:

  • Applications accepted 365 days per year

  • Reviewed only during formal evaluation windows

  • Late submissions automatically roll forward

  • Apply: 2 December 2025 – 4 January 2026

  • Decisions: 7–14 January 2026

  • Next Level 1 cohort begins: 26 January 2026

4. Required Documentation

Applicants must upload:

  • ID or passport

  • Highest qualification

  • Motivation statement

  • Optional: CV

  • Optional: financial evidence

  • Optional: recommendation letters

Applications missing key documents may be paused or rejected.

5. What the Bursary Covers (Partial Funding)

Supported Costs

  • ESG training tuition (ISB/ISF ADVISOR®)

  • IASE Board Exam fees

  • First-time IASE Global membership

Award Value and Funding Range

Ubuntu ESG Access Bursary awards are partial and typically cover between 20% and 50% of the total Level 1 tuition and exam fees. This usually equates to approximately R3,000 to R8,500 (≈ USD 160 – USD 450) depending on financial need, application strength, and available bursary funding. The Bursary Committee retains full discretion to determine final award values within this range.

  • Membership renewals

  • Technology/data requirements

  • Travel or accommodation

  • Administrative or bank charges

This ensures fair distribution of ESG qualification funding among high-need applicants.

6. Conditions of Award

Recipients must:

  1. Accept the bursary within the required timeline

  2. Register for training promptly

  3. Complete assigned ESG learning modules

  4. Sit for the designated IASE Board Exam

  5. Uphold the IASE Code of Conduct

  6. Remain available for communication

Failure may result in withdrawal.

All bursaries are:

  • Non-deferrable

  • Non-transferable

  • Non-cash (funds go directly to providers)

8. Appeals and Finality of Decisions

All decisions made by the IASE Africa Bursary Committee are final and not subject to appeal.
Due to the volume of applications and the nature of the assessment criteria, IASE Africa does not offer:

  • Appeal processes

  • Reconsideration requests

  • Review meetings

  • Individual scoring breakdowns

  • Additional explanations beyond acceptance or rejection

Applicants acknowledge that bursary decisions are final and binding, and that IASE Africa is under no obligation to provide further detail regarding panel deliberations.

9. Withdrawal and Disqualification

IASE Africa may withdraw an award if:

  • False or misleading information was provided

  • The recipient fails to register

  • Misconduct is detected

  • Training/exam requirements are not met

Recipients who forfeit an award may be barred from future cycles.

10. Reapplication Policy

  • Unsuccessful applicants may remain in the next cycle

  • Applicants may submit improved applications

  • Recipients who fail to use the bursary may not reapply

11. Publicity and Use of Awardee Information

IASE Africa reserves the right to publicise the names, photographs, and general biographical information of bursary award recipients for marketing, reporting, and promotional purposes. This may include publication on IASE-managed websites, newsletters, social media platforms, and official reports.

All publicity will be handled with respect and discretion, and no sensitive personal information will be published. Applicants may request to opt out of public recognition in exceptional circumstances by contacting [email protected].

12. Future Engagement and Volunteering

IASE Africa may, from time to time, invite bursary recipients to participate in voluntary activities that support the mission of the organisation. These may include sharing testimonials, participating in outreach events, contributing to community ESG initiatives, or representing the programme in non-commercial contexts.

Participation in such activities is completely voluntary, will be requested with reasonable notice, and will not affect eligibility for current or future IASE programmes. Bursary applicants and recipients are under no obligation to accept such invitations.

13. Data Protection & Privacy

Applicants consent to:

  • Data processing under POPIA

  • Sharing with training providers & IASE Global

  • Storage for audit and compliance purposes
